The color is a beautiful deep garnet with reflections of ruby tones introducing this delicate wine. At first, without even agitating the glass, notes of rose petals and violets are noticeable. Once the wine is swirled in the glass, blueberries, blackcurrants, red plums and fresh forest berries take the center of attention on the nose. Quince paste and toasty notes from the oak complement this complex and elegant wine. In the mouth, the balance between acidity and tannins is an expression of the high tones and qualities of these vineyards sites. This wine can be enjoyed after decanting and will show its best during 2010 and 2011, but should reward careful cellaring for 3 to 5 years.
